Cannich, Glen Affric & Surrounding Area
I took a weeks annual leave in September and headed up to Glen Affric and Cannich in particular. Cannich is just south of Inverness and 12 miles away from Drummadrochit, on the shores of Loch Ness. I visited Urquart Castle, Glen Affric, walking along the River Affric, Monar Dan, Glenstrathfarrar, Beauly, Glenfinnan monument, The Harry potter Viaduct, The black Isle and Cromarty. I also spend a day in Plodda Falls, going on woodland walks and visiting Guisachan House, a stunning mansion from the 1800's that was allowed (deliberatley) to rot into the ground, by Lady Islington, who ordered the roof tiles be removed from the property in 1939. Seven decades of mother nature, has since taken its toll.
It was a great break and below are some of my pictures. I even saw a huge Golden Eagle, but was nowhere near fast enough in getting the camera ready, till it was "off" with four beats of its massive wings. I never saw any Red deer all week, then on the day i was coming home, there they were in a field, just a few miles from my B&B .... and yes i did manage to get shoots of them .... mainly looking at me.!
