Coba Mayan
Our visit to Coba Mayan, was another couple of hours travel into the jungle, this time travelling south from our resort. This was more of an adventure tour and included a 2km hike to the coba pyramid, the highest pyramid in the Yucatan Peninsula. On the way we met a spider ... i did not hang around !!! ... then we did a Kayak across the blue lagoon .... Redgrave and Pincent, we were not !!. Another hike for about 1km to another Cenote [Under ground sink hole, see Chechen Itza page] for a swim. We were met by a "Shamen" who was burning amber in a little pot, again to bless us before we went into cleanse more of our demons. Next up was a "zip slided" accross the tree tops for about a distance of 50m. And followed by absailing down 15m rock face ... and i might add that it was pouring of rain at that point and the rocks and rock face were very slippy ..... but my underpants survied the ordeal. Our guide told us that it was not absailing, but Rapede Decent. However i call "Rapede Decent", falling to my death ... and i opted for the ropes, gloves and harness things ...and called it absailing!! We had photos taken of our adventure, but they are not here, as the were hideiously expensive to buy .... and their reluctance to do any deal, meant that we just have our memories to keep !
We we knackered after the tour, but i must admit to enjoying it. Of course all the temples and other historical stuff was there as well.
